When it comes to actual skills…

… NOTHING is more important than your ability to sell your ideas to others.

Think about the people in your life.

Do you know people who are full of integrity, love what they do, work harder than most, get along with others…

… yet they’re struggling financially?

Chances are, they’re either lacking the fire in their belly (don’t have the competitive nature) or they don’t know how to sell.

Being competitive is absolutely crucial to success.

You and I know that, and there’s really not much to say about it.

You either have it or you don’t.

But selling that’s a whole different issue.

Are there people out there that know how to manipulate others to get their way, REGARDLESS of what’s in the best interest of the other person?

Of course there are.

And that’s what I call manipulation.

Influence is something completely different.

If you believe something is truly in the person’s best interest, then I feel it’s your moral obligation to help them make the decision that’s truly good for them.

Some may argue that people are capable of making their own decisions.

And I absolutely agree, and you need to simply present them with all the facts so this decision isn’t based on some preconceived notions, or worst, lack of proper facts and information.

In selling and persuasion, that’s exactly what you do.

You make a logical case for your product, service or opportunity so the person has all they need to make that decision.

Only you see, there’s a small problem and most people don’t know it.

NONE OF US, not a single human being makes their decision based on logic.

We Make ALL Our Decisions Emotionally!

If you’re a technical or analytical person, it’s hard to accept that.

But it’s 100% true.

We are emotional beings.

And most of our decisions come as somewhat automatic responses from our subconscious mind, based on the information we receive (or I should say perceive.)

Because perception is everything.

How we interpret internally what’s happening to and around us, is what dictates our decision making process.

And it’s all driven by emotions.

Now logic comes into play as well.

As my favorite sales guru, Tom Hopkins says…

…”People buy emotionally and justify the decision logically”.

Now how true is that?

Think about the car you drive, the clothes you buy, the house you live in and so forth….

Look at all the people who buy iPhones, Androids and all the other latest gadgets.

Do you logically need to have a friggin’ computer in your phone?

Do you really need to have a certain brand of clothes, just because it says North Face or whatever on it?

Do you really need the kind of car you have or could you have gotten a cheaper one and saved money? (a more LOGICAL choice)

All these decisions were based on nothing but pure emotion.

And when you DECIDED to buy, you came up with a dozen of logical and rational reasons why it makes sense.

1. Ditch the Paper Notepad

If you’re at a conference, on a call, in a meeting, etc. you’ll want to take notes. And luckily, it’s easy to take notes electronically now. Besides the handy Notepad app that comes with every computer, there’s a mobile app called EverNote that lets you easily take and share notes on the go.

2. Download Green Apps

And EverNote isn’t the only app that will help your greening efforts. There are others that are geared specifically for helping you improve your everyday life. For example:

3. Make it a Game

A great way to go green and get your audience engaged is to create a game. The My Carbon Footprint app mentioned is a great tool for that, but you can try other things as well. For example, ask Facebook fans to submit what they’re doing to be green and offer a prize for the winner.

4. Use Natural Products

Purchase non-toxic, eco-friendly cleaners and eco-friendly office supplies as well. Natural products are not only better for the environment, but for your body as well.

5. Recycle

At first glance, this sounds like an easy one. But hold up. Are you recycling things properly? For example, our local recycling takes care of aluminum cans, but not the plastic containers our lunches come in. We have to take care of that separately. Batteries also need to be recycled separately.

6. Offer Washable Cups

Disposable cups are incredibly wasteful. Use water bottles or coffee mugs instead.

7. Bring in the Plants

Plants not only look great, they help absorb indoor pollutants. Some low-maintenance plants include the Areca palm, English ivy and the Spider plant.

How Does This Help Me Market My Business?

People like a company with personality. If you establish your brand as the company that wants to help the planet, that will be memorable. So while you work on making your business a green one, make sure you let subscribers and followers know about what you’re doing.

The 13- minute video How to Vote Biblical, presented by Go Stand Speak Ministries founder and president Pat Necerato, expounds on a number of aspects that should be taken into account before a person casts a vote for any candidate.

Necerato is an evangelist, business owner and filmmaker, and is most known for the documentaries Go Stand Speak: The Power of the Public Proclamation of the Gospel and Street PreacherA Day in the Life. He also recently launched a nationally-concerted evangelism effort called Operation Freedom.

Necerato explains that just because a candidate professes to be someone who believes in God, does not necessarily mean that their beliefs are Biblical. He states that the positions of each candidate must be compared carefully to Scripture as a persons standards dictate their decisions.

Additionally, just as Jesus prayed, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven, Necerato advises that every leader will be held accountable to God for seeing His law upheld and implemented. He exhorts that we must, therefore, choose men that fear God and delight in His perfect commandments.

Necerato reiterated this accountability as he recently shocked NJ State Legislators at a recent Same-Sex Marriage Hearing hosted by the New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee at the Trenton Statehouse. The hearing allowed for public testimony regarding the pending same-sex marriage (S1) bill that activist lawmakers are attempting to force through the legislature.

Our standard of morality should be based on Gods standard, not our own individual autonomy, Necerato declared boldly to legislators. Necerato believes that elected officials are a mirror of the soul of society. A nations leader is a reflection of the heart of its people. There cannot be public virtue without private virtue, he explains in How to Vote Biblical. The 14-page package of nine EfS core standards and performance indicators were developed for K-12 school systems, and are designed to equip teachers and students with the new knowledge and ways of thinking needed to achieve economic prosperity and responsible citizenship while restoring the health of our living systems.

The interdisciplinary content standards replace the traditional problem-based approach to learning with pedagogy that is aspiration-based. “Moving toward an aspiration offers a broader perspective and solves more than one problem at a time, while minimizing the creation of new ones,” says Jaimie P. Cloud, founder of the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education. “Our standards promote greater awareness and sense of efficacy in students, and support teachers with a rich and highly flexible foundational system to educate for a sustainable future.”

The Department of Education has not approved a set of national standards for education for sustainability. This means that states, districts, and individual schools have an opportunity to enhance existing frameworks and curriculum by selecting the EfS Standards and Performance Indicators that are most closely aligned to their educational vision.

As part of The Cloud Institute’s teaching and learning system, these standards draw upon the most progressive fields of study – biomimicry, neuroscience, environmental ethics, systems thinking, and others – and have been aligned to Common Core, State Standards, Character Education, Cultural Competencies and Partnership for 21st Century Skills. The content is influenced by top leadership principles including The Entrepreneurial Mindset, Systems Thinking and System Dynamics, Characteristics of Resiliency, Habits of Mind (Costa and Kallick), and the attributes of catalytic or “quiet” leadership (David Rock).

The nine Core Content Standards are: Cultural Preservation and Transformation, Responsible Local and Global Citizenship, Dynamics of Systems and Change, Sustainable Economics, Healthy Commons, Natural Laws and Ecological Principles, Inventing and Affecting The Future, Multiple Perspectives and Sense Of Place.

According to Dr. Moira Wilkinson, The Cloud Institute’s Senior Director of Education and Research, “Any one of The Cloud Institute’s EfS Standards on their own, offer a valuable contribution to education. The nine core content standards that we promote, and the indicators that accompany them, are woven together to produce catalytic results. People dont just click on anything anymore. You have to know what youre doing. You have to say something in your design, blog, images – that is worthwhile to a lot of people, Drew Forsberg, FIIs Chief Technology Officer, said. When you see that there is a wealth of free information online, and news of how the Internet has revolutionized education, its nice to know that you are a part of that and that you are continuing to expand upon those ideas.

Already, the marketing companys current crop of content has delivered thousands of leads per day for clients who need advertising in education, employment searches, and more. YourEmployment.com, a daily updated site for job hunters, reached half a million users in under 6 months, which is due largely in part to the new integration of social media and convenient tools like a salary calculator.

Its the tools that really make a website blossom. People think of something that would go along with the content on your website, and instead of going somewhere else, weve figured out ways to just add that information in. It saves a lot of time, said Forsberg.

Another website from FII provides information on hundreds of degrees, which is giving students a real way to compare majors and colleges. YourDegree.com received a complete re-design to provide newer, more succinct content. With the new site, you can find a degree, read about its requirements, job prospects, completion rate and then go on to find an accredited school that offers the degree in your area.

Theres actually a real benefit to providing unique, updated information. You get better traffic, but not only that, you get people who rely on your content and link it, share it, make it more available, said Paul Drago, FIIs VP of Search and Analytics. Its really important to not just splash around content and think youre doing something special. You have to know, and thats why we analyze all of our content constantly and develop new ways to reach all types of audiences.

With a bigger audience, FII has managed to get a lot of things done in the past month. There was also the complete relaunch of DebtFinanceCorp.com, a site completely dedicated to individuals who need help with credit problems. The site integrated the newest information in debt consolidation and credit management practices, then provided services to users in addition to helpful tips on saving money, lowering payments and eliminating high interest rates. These were the most common problems among Debt Finance Corps readership. The re-design helped add more of this content, which created a more constant stream of traffic.

The company that started with just four guys and a unique opportunity has turned into a million dollar business. Jeff Giles, VP of Business Development at FII, has been with the company from the beginning and is looking forward to new directions in order to stay ahead of traffic. However, Dale Brown, head of sales and marketing at FII, gives credit to the FII development team for always being able to predict new algorithms and create the kind of content that people want to see.
